On June 1, 2015, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid announced yet another delay of the enforcement date regarding the Part D prescriber enrollment requirement. The implementation date of this new rule which requires dentists who treat or prescribe for Medicare beneficiaries to enroll or opt-out of Medicare will now be June 1, 2016.
The ADA is continuing its work in seeking a legislative repeal of this requirement; however, dentists are encouraged to begin the enrollment or opt-out process as it is unclear how long this process will take as well as whether it will be successful.
